description
card_name

If you’re a big fan and regular user of delivery services, the card_name, offered through Chase, may be worth adding to your plastic portfolio. This card has plenty of compelling features that can keep those costs down while frequent use can help you earn valuable rewards for future purchases.

However, there are some downsides to be aware of as well. Here’s what you need to know about this specialized account.

Does the CardName earn cash back?

As a card_name cardholder, you can  rack up an impressive amount of cash back when you charge certain purchases to the card:

  • 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
  • 3% cash back on dining directly at a restaurant
  • 2% cash back at grocery stores, for both online and in-person purchases
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

On the surface, this rate may seem like you can earn the most when you only order food, but you can also purchase a wide array of products and services. Depending on what is available in your location, you may order groceries and home essentials from your favorite supermarket, a wide variety of items from big box stores such as Target, and gift cards to keep or distribute through DoorDash or Caviar. All will qualify you for a healthy 4% cash-back rate when you use this card for those purchases.

The earned cash can add up pretty quickly, too. For example, if you charge $700 on expenses that qualify for the top cash-back rate, $28 in rewards will be in your account at the next statement period.

You will also enjoy relatively high cash-back rewards anytime you use your card at a restaurant or grocery store: 3% and 2% respectively.

Anything else you charge will earn you 1% cash back. Therefore, if you want to charge big-ticket items like airplane tickets or hotel rooms, you’re better off using a travel card that offers higher-rewards potential.

CardName benefits

The card_name was developed for dedicated DoorDash and Caviar customers, though it does have some benefits that can satisfy other types of users. These include:

DashPass membership

The first major benefit is complimentary 12-month DashPass membership. You can add an authorized user to the card who will also have access to the subscription. With it, you will be entitled to unlimited deliveries from thousands of restaurants and won’t be charged a delivery fee on orders over $12, for both DoorDash and Caviar. It’s a great savings, since if you were to pay for the DashPass on your own, it would cost $9.99 a month or $96 per year.

Upon DoorPass activation, you will receive a $5 discount off your first order every month when you use your CardName at checkout.

Be aware that when the free subscription ends, you (and the authorized user, if you have one) will be automatically enrolled as DoorPass members at the annual rate unless you cancel the subscription. However, you will earn a free annual membership every anniversary year when you spend $10,000 on your card, no matter what you use the card for.

No annual fee

With a card that comes with such strong cash-back potential, you might expect to pay an annual fee. Not so with the CardName. It won’t cost you anything to open and keep the card active, so you don’t have to worry about a fee being applied if you end up not using it much.

Discounts

Additional advantages of this card are rotating discounts. Currently, the following discounts are being offered to cardholders:

  • $25 off two shipping orders of $100 or more (offer valid through 12/31/2024; terms apply)
  • 10% off one convenience, grocery, alcohol, retail, or DashMart order every month, up to $15 (offer valid through 12/31/2024; terms apply)

No foreign transaction fees

Traveling outside the United States? You won’t pay any foreign transaction fees on purchases made with this card, so you can keep those costs down.

Eligible for My Chase Plan®

Although the APR can be steep, you do have the option to create an interest-free payment plan for purchases of $100 or more for a fixed monthly fee. It’s worth exploring if your balance gets too high to repay quickly.

What are the potential downsides of the CardName?

There are some disadvantages of the card_name to consider before applying.

Potentially high APR

The variable APR for this card is between RegAPR. Which rate you get depends on your credit rating. If you only qualify for the highest APR and revolve your debt from one month to the next, the accumulated finance fees can be very high.

No sign-up bonus

Unlike many rewards cards, this card does not offer a sign-up bonus.

No 0% APR promotions

Some credit cards will not charge any interest on purchases or balance transfers for a year or longer after opening the account. Unfortunately, this card does not include this feature as one of its benefits.

How does the CardName compare to other cards?

CardName vs. CardName

discontinued

If a credit card that provides you with the opportunity to earn a healthy amount of cash back on deliveries as well as travel-related charges is what you’re after, the CardName may be attractive. As with the CardName, there is no annual. However, the CardName offers 5% cash back on Instacart purchases as well as an impressive 5% cash back on Chase Travel℠  purchases. You’ll also get 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations and select streaming services, and 1% cash back on everything else. While the DoorDash card doesn’t have a sign-up bonus, CardName will give you a free year of Instacart+ and a $100 Instacart credit after you are approved for the account.

Be aware, though, that the CardName isn’t quite as robust as the DoorDash card is for dining out and ordering food directly from eateries. It only offers 2% cash back at restaurants while the DoorDash card gives you 3%, so if this is a major spending category for you, the CardName has a lead.

CardName vs. CardName

discontinued

When seeking a credit card that rewards you handsomely for dining out as well as many other spending categories, the CardName is worth considering. It offers unlimited 3% cash back on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services and at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart and Target); unlimited 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel (terms apply); 8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment purchases; and 1% cash back on all other purchases. You can also earn a bonus of $200 after you meet the $500 minimum spend in the first three months of opening the account. If you’re looking for a card that offers a benefit for deliveries, this card does give you 10% cash back on Uber Eats (as well as on Uber) as well as a complementary month of Uber membership (through 11/14/24).

To sweeten the deal, the SavorOne card comes with intro 0% APR for 15 months on both purchases and balance transfers, a big perk that is unavailable with the DoorDash card. The regular APR is between RegAPR (balance transfer fee applies), and there is no annual fee. The downside to the SavorOne card is that you do not get the valuable DoorPass and Caviar membership as you would with the CardName, which can save you a lot of money on delivery fees if you are a frequent customer.

Is the CardName a good card?

If you use DoorDash and Caviar on a regular basis, and you can keep the debt to zero or very low, the card_name is definitely worth consideration. This is especially true if you and a person you want to add as an authorized user are already paying for DoorPass. If this is the case, you can automatically come out ahead because you won’t be charged an annual fee.

Not much of a DoorDash or Caviar user? Forget about it. Other credit cards that were developed to help people save on food and delivery costs will be better options.

Our Methodology

Survey methodology: CardRatings commissioned Op4G in September 2023 to conduct surveys among 1,869 cardholders nationwide. CardRatings website analytics from Jan. 1, 2023-Aug. 31, 2023 were used to determine a selection of the most popular cards and additional cards were included to add survey breadth. Responses to each of nine questions were given on a scale of 1-10 and respondents’ scores were then averaged under broad topics. To determine the overall score, responses from questions 1-8 were summed and the answer to “How likely are you to recommend this card to a friend, coworker or family member?” was double weighted. Current Scores reflect scores from the most recent survey (2023); “Past Scores” reflect scores from the 2022 survey.
