The Marriott Bonvoy program brings together Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest programs and Ritz-Carlton Rewards resulting in a hotel loyalty program that covers more than 7,000 properties across 30 hotel brands in 131 countries. These range from luxury names such as The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis to lower priced select properties like Fairfield and Springhill Suites.

Who should get a Marriott card?

People who frequent Marriott properties, but not so much the otherwise earn status and hefty rewards are ideal candidates for Marriott credit cards.

Being a Marriott cardholder affords you certain benefits and privileges which can include everything from room upgrades to extra rewards earning to complimentary perks. However, if you stay at Marriott properties enough to earn that status and rewards with your stays alone, the branded credit card may not be necessary for you. In that case, a more general travel rewards credit card could be a better fit.

In particular, keep in mind that both American Express Membership Rewards points and Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to your Marriott Bonvoy account and redeemed as Marriott Bonvoy points. They can also, of course, be redeemed for other travel or transfer to other travel partners.

What are the best Marriott credit cards of April 2024?

All that said, if Marriott properties are your first preference when you travel, it may be time to add a Marriott credit card to your wallet.

Not only do Marriott credit cards earn you rewards when you stay at a Marriott property, but they can provide perks like free night stays, automatic hotel elite status, room discounts, late checkout, statement credits and more.

One of the best things about Marriott credit cards is that there’s a nice variety to choose from. There’s a no annual fee option, great for the occasional traveler; a middle-of-the-road choice perfect for consistent Marriott guests who don’t mind a moderate annual fee; and a couple premium cards ideal for those seeking a more luxury experience. There’s even a Marriott business card to suit business travelers’ needs.
