IHG-loyalists take note: the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card just launched its highest points offer of the year. For a limited time, new cardholders can earn a whopping 120,000 bonus points, earned once spending just $2,000 with the card in the first three months of opening an account.

This isn’t just the best offer of the year for this card; it’s the best we’ve seen since 2023! If IHG properties are your preferred hotels, now is an ideal time to apply for this card.

The attention-grabbing welcome bonus is just the beginning; this card offers significant ongoing value. Let’s delve into some of its best features.

Because it’s so hard to overlook, let’s start by discussing that welcome bonus a little more.

Welcome bonus

New applicants can earn 120,000 bonus points once spending $2,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening. Played right, that could equate to as many as three nights at 4,700+ hotels and resorts globally.

The offer is available to those who do not currently have an IHG One Rewards Credit Card and who have not received a new card-member bonus in the last 24 months. This does not apply to business credit card products.

Ongoing rewards

On an ongoing basis, the card offers up to 17X total points on purchases made at IHG properties. Cardholders earn a base rate of 5X points with the card, plus up to 10X points on IHG stays for being an IHG One Rewards member. Additionally, Silver Elite status members can earn 2X more points per stay. Maintaining your IHG Rewards Traveler card membership grants you automatic Silver Elite status, a significant benefit as many credit cards necessitate meeting specific spending requirements for elite status eligibility.

Beyond that, the card also earns rewards on everyday spending. Cardholders earn 3X points on dining, utilities, streaming services, and at gas stations. They also earn 2X points per dollar spent on all other purchases. This enhances the card’s versatility, as reward accrual isn’t solely tied to IHG property stays. Even infrequent stays at IHG properties, perhaps once or twice a year, allow for year-round reward accumulation, potentially offsetting the full cost of your annual accommodation.

Additional card perks

A major advantage we haven’t covered is the fact that this card comes with no annual fee. This is a notable feature considering its generous welcome bonus and the potential for significant ongoing rewards. Moreover, the card offers these additional benefits:

  • Earn 10,000 bonus points after you spend $10,000 each calendar year.
  • Redeem points for a three-night stay and get the fourth night free. When you redeem points for a consecutive four-night IHG hotel stay, you can receive a fourth Rewards Night for free, redeemable at the same hotel during that same stay.
  • Earn Gold Elite status through December 31st of the following year each calendar year you make purchases totaling $20,000 or more.
  • Save 20% when you purchase points with your card_name.
  • As an IHG One Rewards cardholder you are eligible for early access to Reward Night sales each year. Reward Night sales offer a discount on the number of points needed to book a stay if using points only.
  • Cardholders can enjoy a wide range of travel and purchase coverage, including baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, purchase protection, and trip cancellation and interruption insurance.
  • Travel abroad without worry thanks to no foreign transaction fees.
