Recognized among our best credit cards of 2021 thanks to their solid bonus reward offers and flat-rate earning structures, both the CardName discontinued and the CardName discontinued are attractive travel rewards credit card options for anyone looking to earn miles on every dollar they spend with their card — no matter the amount or the category of purchase.

Annual Fees

Both cards offer unlimited earned miles on every purchase made with no caps or categories to worry about, and while they offer a number of other identical benefits, there are a few areas where the cards differ.

For starters, the Venture card has an annual fee (AnnualFees), whereas with the VentureOne card annual fees are never something you’ll have to worry about. With that said, however, it’s important to realize what that the Venture card fee gets you that the VentureOne does not…

Bonus Miles

The first thing you might notice when comparing the two cards is the difference between the new member rewards offer. With the Venture Rewards Credit Card, new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles when spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening whereas new VentureOne cardholders only receive 20,000 miles (equal to $200 in travel) — though the spending threshold to earn this bonus is much lower, at just $500 spent in three months.

Earning Rates

The next big area where the two cards differ is with the rewards earning rate. With the Venture card you’ll earn 2 miles for every dollar spent with the card, whereas with the VentureOne you’ll only earn 1.25 miles per dollar — though, we still think that this is a good offer, especially considering the fact that many no-annual-fee credit cards only offer 1 mile per dollar, or there’s a cap on the amount of miles that can be earned.

Introductory APR

Lastly, it’s important to notice the difference in the APR offers. Though the CardName might come with a better welcome bonus and a higher rewards rate, the CardName offers intro 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 15 months of account membership (3% fee on the amounts transferred within the first 15 months), which might be a more highly-valued perk for some credit card users. A regular APR rate of RegAPR will apply after that.

What’s Best for You?

When it comes to deciding which card is the better option for your wallet, it really just comes down to your spending habits and whether or not you really want to pay an annual fee. The VentureOne credit card is a great option for those occasional credit card users who are in no hurry to cash in on their miles and have time to accumulate them, however, if you’re funneling every monthly expense, vacation charge, and supermarket purchase to your travel rewards card, chances are, you’ll easily be spending enough with your card each year to make the CardName‘s annual fee worth the price.
