Recognized among our best credit cards of 2019 thanks to their solid bonus reward offers and flat-rate earning structures, both the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card are attractive travel rewards credit card options for anyone looking to earn miles on every dollar they spend with their card — no matter the amount or the category of purchase.

Both cards offer unlimited earned miles on every purchase made with no caps or categories to worry about, and while they offer a number of other identical benefits, there are a few areas where the cards differ.

For starters, the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card has an annual fee ($0 intro for first year; $95 after that), whereas with the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card annual fees are never something you'll have to worry about it. With that said, however, it's important to realize what that Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card fee gets you that the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card does not…

The first thing you might notice when comparing the two cards is the difference between the new member rewards offer. With the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card, new cardholders can earn 50,000 bonus miles (equal to $500 in travel) by spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three months of account membership, whereas new Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card holders only receive 20,000 miles (equal to $200 in travel) — though the spending threshold to earn this bonus is much lower, at just $1,000.

The next big area where the two cards differ is with the rewards earning rate. With the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card you'll earn 2 miles for every dollar spent with the card, whereas with the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card you'll only earn 1.25 miles per dollar — though, we still think that this is a good offer, especially considering the fact that many no annual fee credit cards only offer 1 mile per dollar, or there's a cap on the amount of miles that can be earned. One great perk though that's offered with both credit cards is that cardholders can earn 10 miles per dollar spent on hotel bookings made at hotels.com/venture — and that's in addition to the hotels.com rewards program through which you can earn a free night stay for every 10 nights booked.

Lastly, it's important to notice the difference in the purchase APR offers. Though the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card might come with a better signup bonus and a higher rewards rate, the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card offers an intro 0% purchase APR for the first year of account membership, which might be a more highly-valued perk for some credit card users. A regular APR rate of 14.24% - 24.24% (Variable) will apply after that.

When it comes to deciding which card is the better option for your wallet, it really just comes down to your spending habits and whether or not you really want to pay an annual fee. The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card is a great option for those occasional credit card users who are in no hurry to cash in on their miles and have time to accumulate miles, however, if you're funneling every monthly expense, vacation charge, and supermarket purchase to your travel rewards card, chances are, you'll easily be spending enough with your card each year to make the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card's annual fee worth the price.
