EDITOR'S NOTE

American Express offers a number of transferable points small business cards that utilize the Membership Rewards® system. We discuss those below in the Small Business Credit Cards section.

Capital One

No one could blame you for being surprised to see the cards below under "Transferable Points." For a long time, that's what these cards were – and they still offer tremendous value if used that way! However, Capital One has introduced travel partners (ie. transferable points options) for the Venture and VentureOne cards, which means they now offer value in this way as well.

Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card

Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card

Welcome offer: 50,000 Venture® miles when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. $95 annual fee waived the first year.

50,000 miles (plus the 6,000 you'll earn at the regular reward rate for spending $3,000 (2 miles per $1)) = 56,000 worth $560 of statement credits for completely flexible travel.

Analysis: This welcome offer is higher than typical for this card, so jump on it while it lasts. Additionally, if you book a stay through Hotels.com/Venture using your card, you'll earn 10x the miles per $1 spent on the booking. That's in addition to the regular Hotels.com rewards program in which you earn a free night for every 10 nights booked through the site. You can fly any airline, stay at any hotel, anytime and not have to worry about blackout dates. Plus you can transfer your miles to over 12 leading travel loyalty programs. Credit needed: Excellent, Good

Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card

Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card

Welcome offer: 20,000 Venture® miles when you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months. You earn 1.25 miles on every purchase. There is no annual fee on this card.

20,000 miles = $200 of statement credits for completely flexible travel.

Analysis: This welcome offer has held steady for many months with no indication this will increase. That said, there is a new promotion in which VentureOne® cardholders earn 10x the miles per $1 spent when they book a stay through Hotels.com/Venture. That's in addition to the regular rewards programs with Hotels.com in which you earn a free night for every 10 nights you book. Credit needed: Excellent, Good

You earn two points per $1 spent at supermarkets and gas stations up $6,000 spent in a year and one point per $1 spent on everything else. Remember, though, that all your purchases' rewards round to the nearest 10 points. Also, you'll receive 10% of your points back for the first 100,000 points you redeem in a year.

Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card

Bonus: Earn 30,000 bonus points – valued at $300 in cash redemption – after you spend $3,000 in the first three months.

You also earn one point per $1 on your other purchases. The best part? That three points per $1 rate is usually reserved for cards with annual fees and this Wells Fargo card charges none.

Additional perks include an introductory 0% APR period for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers (then, 15.74%-27.74% Variable) as well as up to $600 in cell phone protection against covered damage and theft if you pay your monthly cellular bill on the card.
