Disney diehards have a reputation for their intense love of all things Disney. If you count yourself among the Mouse’s biggest fans and want to display your brand loyalty while earning rewards toward your next visit to the parks or purchase of Disney gear, take a look at the Disney credit cards.

There are two Disney credit cards with rewards available from Chase, Disney’s credit card partner: the CardNamediscontinued and the CardNamediscontinued. While similar, you should consider their differences before making a decision.

Remember, these cards offer solid value for the truly Disney faithful – people who visit the parks or shop Disney merchandise regularly. If you, however, don’t drop in on Cinderella’s castle at least a time or two each year, you’d likely fare better with a more general travel rewards card like one from our best credit cards for Disney vacations list.

Which Disney credit card is the best?

Assuming you’ve decided your lifestyle and needs warrant a Disney-specific card, as compared to one of the more general travel rewards cards, the best Disney credit card for you will depend on your spending habits and goals.

Both cards offer some exciting perks, including exclusive photo opportunities at Disney parks and discounts on merchandise and dining while you’re on vacation. Rewards earning and redemption options are where these cards differ.

The CardName, which carries a AnnualFees annual fee compared to the standard CardName‘s AnnualFees fee, offers slightly more rewards. Earn 5% on DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com and ESPNPlus.com purchases; 2% at gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores and most U.S. Disney locations; and 1% on other purchases instead of just 1% on your purchases like the no-annual-fee version offers. That bump in earning means you have the opportunity to earn higher rewards on everyday purchases. Furthermore, the Premier version also offers more flexibility when redeeming the rewards – you have the option to redeem your rewards for statement credit to cover airline purchases made with your card.

For many people, the annual-fee-free version will be sufficient since it unlocks the same Disney perks as the Premier card. The Premier card’s higher everyday earnings aren’t particularly exciting when compared to some of the best cash-back credit cards out there. Still wondering what’s best for you? Take a look at our side-by-side comparison for more details:

How do Disney credit card points work?

Disney credit card rewards add up in the form of Disney Rewards Dollars. These Disney Rewards Dollars are designed to be used at Disney parks and retail locations. When visiting a Disney property or retail store, you can redeem your points for merchandise, park tickets, hotel stays and more.

If you have the Disney® Premier Visa® Card, you can also redeem your rewards as statement credit to cover airfare purchased with your card. For instance, $50 Disney Reward Dollars is worth $50 in statement credit to cover airline purchases with your card.

What credit score do you need to get a Disney credit card?

Chase does not advertise a specific credit score number required to qualify for one of its Disney credit cards, but good/excellent credit is necessary for approval. According to the credit scoring agency Fico, good credit scores start at 670. Other factors, like your total income as well as debt-to-income ratio, can also play a role.

How hard is it to get a Disney credit card?

Generally, it is not difficult to get a Disney credit card if your credit score is right. You can easily apply for a card online. If you happen to be at a Disney park or retail location, you’ll likely also see offers to apply for the card.

How to apply for a Disney credit card?

You can apply for a Disney Credit Card directly from Chase’s website (you can easily get to the application page by clicking “apply now” above). You’ll have to provide some basic personal information, such as your contact info, Social Security number, income and other debts. This will let Chase make a lending decision.

If you’re at a Disney retail location or park, you may also be able to apply while you’re making a purchase.

How long does it take to get approved for a Disney credit card?

Approval for a Disney credit card could occur instantly upon application, or you may have to wait a few days while Chase considers your application. As with many credit card applications, applying online could result in instant approval or instant denial, depending on the details in your application. It could also result in a message letting you know Chase needs more time to review your application and will let you know a decision soon.

In the case of the “we need more time” message, you should receive more information within a few days or as long as a couple of weeks. You can also call and check on the status of your application if you haven’t heard a response within a few days.
