What types of credit cards are offered by the Pentagon Federal Credit Union?

PenFed offers a variety of credit cards, many with lower interest rates than the standard offered by other financial institutions. Here are a few examples:

  • Platinum Cash Rewards Card. If you are looking for the best cash back credit card, you should compare how quickly you can accrue cash rewards along with the interest rate you will pay and the annual fee. PenFed's Platinum Cash Rewards credit card pays you 5 percent cash back on all gas purchases and 1 percent cash back on all other purchases. This credit card currently has a variable rate of 13.99 percent APR and no annual fee.
  • Platinum Cash Rewards for Students. This credit card has no annual fee and carries an interest rate of 13.99 percent APR. The rewards program is the same as the Platinum Cash Rewards for regular customers. This student credit card requires a joint account holder who meets the credit standards of PenFed and is a member. The student can also become a member. The credit limit for this card can be as low as $500 if the joint account holder prefers. This student credit card gives you a chance to build your credit while still in college, since the payment history is reported for both account holders.
  • Promise Card. If your goal is to pay off your credit card debt quickly or to make a major purchase without paying too much in interest, a low interest credit card should meet your requirements. The PenFed Promise Card has no annual fee and, for the first 36 months, the interest rate is just 7.49 percent APR. After that, the variable rate is tied to the Prime Rate. Currently the ongoing interest rate is only 9.99 percent APR. If you find that you need a cash advance, the Promise Card charges 17.99 percent APR, far lower than many other credit cards.
  • Premium Travel Rewards American Express Card. If you travel often for work or pleasure, the best travel credit cards can save you money. Look for a credit card that pays you with points or frequent flier miles on a favorite airline or, if you travel on a variety of airlines, one that can be used for any carrier. The PenFed Premium Travel Rewards American Express Card pays five points for every dollar you spend on airline travel and one point per dollar for all other purchases. In addition, you can earn 20,000 bonus points if you spend $650 in the first three months. This card has no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.
