American Express this month announced plans to "transform travel" with a trio of extra perks for the company's Platinum Card holders. In a statement to reporters, officials from the credit card issuer explained how three new benefits would help frequent travelers save money while enjoying extra convenience.

  • Priority Pass Select: The Platinum Card® from American Express Card holders already enjoy access to airport lounges operated by American Airlines, Delta, and US Airways. However, the addition of the Priority Pass Select benefit opens the doors to over 600 affiliated lounges in airports worldwide. The Platinum Card from American Express Card members can enroll for a complimentary Priority Pass.

  • No Foreign Currency Transaction Fees: American Express joins a short list of credit card issuers, including Capital One and Pentagon Federal, offering cards with no currency exchange fees. With The Platinum Card from American Express frequent overseas travelers will now enjoy the freedom to travel abroad without paying the 2.7 percent foreign transaction surcharge on items purchased abroad.

These new features are the latest additions to a growing list of benefits for The Platinum Card from American Express Card holders, which include such perks as airline fee credits, special amenities and comforts when staying at participating hotels and concierge services.
