American Express® Gold Card Review

I've used this charge card for the past two years. First year annual fee was waived, but I do pay it now. I've been a member since 2004, and have this as my primary rewards card - I put everything through it. Overall I think it's a great card. One of the best features is that it has roadside assistance which I've called and used 5 times now over the years (flat tire 2x, ran out of gas 2x, car wouldn't start needed a boost). I also like the American Express rewards program - after collecting points for a while I saw that AmEx was having a special with bonus points if you used them for Apple products so I had enough to get a MacBook Pro (had been saving them for a while!). Customer service has never been a problem. Overall I'd give it a strong recommendation. If I were to do over, I'd get either this card or the American Express Starwood one since I hear that's another good one. The only issue is you'll need to have a second card - Visa or MC since not all places take AmEx (I find in my area less than 1/2 of Chinese restaurants take them - and I have Chinese a lot so it's a decent sample size!)
