They didn't approve me instantly when I applied for the platinum card. It took about 3 or 5 days then another week to receive the card which they sent in a very nice package.
After you have an account with AMEX for 1 year, you'll qualify for the sign& travel and the flexible payment option. Anything related to travel can be treated like a credit card where you can carry a balance, but the APR is high-they lowered it for me by the way but I never carried any balance. Anything that's $300 or more is treated like credit card. For me it's $200 or more by invitation. You have to sign up for these things;otherwise, it's going to be due in full every month.
