I guess what I meant to say is, no one is going see AMEX PLATINUM. They will see Amex and your payments, that still will not show what card it is. It could be green, What I am ticked off about is everyone seems to think a platinum card at $450 a year is the way to go, I disagree

No need to get ticked off...different people have different needs. I would use the Platinum benefits and get my use out of the $450 AF. It would more than pay for itself with complimentary companion tickets over the course of a year. I'm not concerned with how it reports to the CRA's.

I travel over seas quite a bit. Free ticket for someone to come along is VERY awesome. Costs me around 1500 give or take to fly to Russia.

I'm sorry, Xace, but you don't know what you're talking about:

"This offer is valid between most major airports within the continental 48 United States. Under the terms of this offer all tickets must be purchased through API. Companion travel award limited to domestic coach class round-trip fares only."

Of course, AMEX Platinum allows you to get a complimentary fare to Hawaii, but check out the fine print

"To qualify for the complimentary fare to and from Honolulu, Hawaii, purchase one adult round-trip published fare before taxes, passenger facility charges (on any of six major U.S. Carriers) of not less than $899.00. Fares lower than $899.00 do not qualify for this offer"

They do have free international companion tickets on business and first class only. I only fly first class.
