Guest: BigDog Post subject: Credit Line Increase Link for HSBC Credit Cards Posted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:23 am Hi, I noticed that HSBC has a "Request a Credit Limit Increase" link. It says and I quote: In order to process this credit limit increase request, click the "Submit" button below. HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS AND DO THEY DO A HARD OR SOFT INQ PS - if you click on the statement tab on the top of the page. You will see the link CLI button on the right hand side of the page. Home Depot Credit Card from CitiBank
Guest: jrjdrayer Post subject: Home Depot Credit Card from CitiBankPosted: Sat Jun 24, 2006 3:56 pm I just rec'd a pre-approved offer in the mail for a $ 4000. Home Depot card from Citibank. Does anyone have any experience with this card ? I just opened two cards in May, AMEX (5600 limit) and Chase Flexible Rewards, and got an American Eagle card with my daughter. I do not have any balances right now, other than $800. on the Chase card with a 4000. limit (0%) . I am on the fence as to whether I want to open this account. It took me years after my divorce to get my credit score to ~ 725. I would appreciate any advice or comments that anyone has. Your offer should say that you are entitled to 10% off your first purchase at Home Depot using the card. If you do not shop HD often and can not spend at least $500 in one visit there, then I recommend that you ask Citi to approve you for their regular rewards card instead and at the same 4K credit limit. Searching for Bank of America Credit Card Offer
Guest: Tommy G Post subject: Searching for Bank of America Credit Card OfferPosted: Sat Jul 01, 2006 10:53 am Being new to America (from Europe) and to the world of credit cards in general (and how severe the consequences are for late payment!), I foolishly managed to make some late payments on my credit card from Bank of America about 1 year ago. I have now paid off the full amount of approx. $600 (first in $15 or $20 steps as I believe this is the way to try to build/improve credit hostory?), finally I just got fed up of this debt sitting there and decided to pay it all off in one $500 amount last month. I'm now all clear. However, of course now my CR is a problem. I called Bank of America to ask if I can get a second one and start over, but of course no go. I'm irritated with BofA and how I inadvertently got myself into that situation with them and now with the fact that of course, as far as they're concerened, I'm now considered by them to be an 'unreliable' borrower. Can you recommend who I should go to in order to apply for a second credit card? I've been inundated with marketing flyers from Capital One but have read bad thigns about them on the internet. I'd like to go with a solid, well-known and long-established institution if they'll have me. Needless to say, I'll be watchign my credit card re-payments like a hawk to make sure I do nothing wrong this time around! Guest: Kajjers Posted: Sat Jul 01, 2006 4:21 pm People knock down Cap1 a lot (myself included) but if you've damaged your credit pretty bad, they aren't as bad to deal with as some others. You might also consider a secured card (credit card w/ a deposit). Guest: FaithNGrace Posted: Sat Jul 01, 2006 11:36 pm Did you try for a secured card from BofA? That might be an option since they don't feel you can be trusted with a unsecured card. What is your credit score? Just out of curiousity, how much was BofA asking for as a minimum payment per month? Unless they were only asking for the $15 or $20 payments each month, payments that small are probably what got you into trouble. Go ahead and try Cap 1. Right now, if you really want a card, you can't afford to be too picky. Good luck! _________________ FaithNGrace CardRatings.com is the most comprehensive source for comparing credit card offers.   Please visit CardRatings.com to view the best rated credit cards! Guest: JaneiR36 Credit Expert (100+ Posts) Posted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:25 am If you've had trouble making payments on time, I think it's probably better to pay off the debt as quickly as possible, so you did the right thing. You've already made them nervous by missing payments, so it's best (IMO) if you can show them that it was just a fluke, but now everything's back to normal and you are happy to pay off your debt. I'm a little confused after having read the title... did BofA cancel your card at all? Just apply as you would, I'm not sure they'd turn you down automatically for an unsecured card. Citibank Dividend's gives you 5% back on gas and groceries, you could try for that if you're interested? Anyways, they say they don;t let you ask for one but sometimes they do. AmEx One Credit Card with 1% Deposited in Savings Account
Guest: nessaness Post subject: AmEx One Credit Card with 1% Deposited in Savings AccountPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 3:47 am I have an Amex One. I like the idea of 1% of my purchases being deposited into a savings account rather than cashback being wasted by my husband. You should treat it no differently than you would an Amex Green Rewards charge card. Use it conservatively and pay it in full every month. CardRatings.com is the most comprehensive source for comparing credit card offers.   Please visit CardRatings.com to view the best rated credit cards! Use it conservatively and pay it in full every month. Nowhere near the same. Green is a charge card -- all charges due in full after each statement. One is a credit card -- you can carry a balance month to month. One puts your 1% Reward into a savings account. However, another key difference is that new charges NEVER attract interest during their first month of billing, even if you've carried a balance over. Thus, if you frequently carry a modest balance over from month to month, this card may save you a lot of interest. (There's an annual fee, however.) However, with rates starting at P+5.9%, it's not the most competitive card if you tend to carry large balances. In terms of monthly charging activity, there's no reason to handle the account any differently than any other credit card. - Harry CardRatings.com is the most comprehensive source for comparing credit card offers.   Please visit CardRatings.com to view the best rated credit cards! I should qualify this ... I'm assuming that you're at least given a credit "guideline". However, it's occurred to me that this isn't the case. The issue of whether they'll approve additional charges when you're carrying a balance arises. At minimum, you'd want to call in advance of any large charge that would take you higher than your historically high balance to ensure that they'll approve the charge. However, once you've established a month with a balance that you normally wouldn't exceed, you generally don't need to be concerned. - Harry CardRatings.com is the most comprehensive source for comparing credit card offers.   Please visit CardRatings.com to view the best rated credit cards! At the time when i first got it i had 50k in credit lines with amex but they still started me at a 1k exposure limit on the card until i built a payment history on the one card. After you build a history with it they should increase the amount you can charge over time. I would definitely call ahead of time to see if a certain charge will go through if it is higher than what you normally charge.
