CBUSA is generally a reference to an arm of Citi that provides retail account financing on behalf of a number of stores. The problem is that without an additional reference, it's difficult to determine which store account it is. And most have different account servicing centers.

If you've obtained a credit report directly from one of the credit bureaus, they should list at least an address (and possibly a phone number) of each of your credtors -- either along side the tradeline listing or at the end of the report in a section of "contacts".

However, I note that FICO doesn't provide contact info in the credit reports that they generate, and that may be true of other non-bureau sources.

I don't know if it's good advice. I use google and BBB to find the weird abbreviations on my reports. With CA's, there are always complaints so they pop up in google pretty easily.

I have a $40 account from about a year ago that I want to pay on, I called the CA that has the account and asked them if I could get it in writing that once I paid it they would delete it from the credit bureus, they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and said they couldn't do that but when they recieved my payment that they would contact the original creditors and my credit report would be updated as paid.

My question is, would this be as good as having it removed? as long as it states that it was paid.
