Well, I already applied just now for the Discover Gas Card! (Yippee?) LOL!!
By "ditch" I mean to "sock drawer" it. I wouldn't close any. I don't think 4's too many.......I just couldn't carry it in my wallet anymore which would render it pretty much useless except for the occasional ProFlowers order or whatever.
Then, I'd probalby go with the citi "Dividends" card or the "Amex" card when I could 'cuz they're still 1% just like the Discover would have been. Plus, now that I have the Discover Gas Card, I'll have much more room to that $300 max on the Citi Dividends card so the $300 max won't be a concern anymore like it was when I used it for both Gas *and* Groceries!
P.S. Hey mouse........which card only does 0.25% at Walmart??? (I don't use Sam's. I'm a Costco guy)

4 is by no means "too many", probably "too few", All of your cards that you listed are NO annual fee, so you are not paying for carrying these cards. The cards that you listed are good ones, I always love that Discover and would not part from it to save my life

I know that it is hard on the wallet to carry a lot of cards at once. I personally keep 2 cards at home, and about 7 in my wallet. The ones at home are the ones I only use occasionally, and which give me no rewards. I still pull them out to use them every so often to keep them active.
I would suggest carrying the cards that get you rewards and the one with the lowest APR, if you carry a balance. This way, you always get the maximum money back. I would be upset at myself if I rarely ate out, but the time I did, my restaurant rewards card was at home. I carry all the cards I need on a regular basis, or ones that I may need occasionally even for rewards.
