I started this last year and have had 2 checks so far each for $300, from Citi and Chase. About to cash in another $300 very soon! (Not to mention the thousands I think I will save with the 0% Balance transfer I just did). If only I had done this a long time ago!

I joined the cash back game about three years ago. Unfortunately I didn't know about the 5% cards for the first year and a half. Once I got those my rebate checks came much more frequently. So far I've earned around $570. I have a $50 check in the mail from Chase and I should have another $50 earned by the end of this month. I love cash back.
I long for the day when I'll be out of school and making more than $15 k per year. I expect to make a lot more then.

Just a comment for well-manicured,
The credit card companies ARE making money from all of us that are using rebate cards.
Don't forget that the merchant pays a fee to the CC companies every time we use the cards. That fee is in the price of everything we buy.
Using the rebate card does give us the opportunity to recover as much as possible, I agree.
Even the 5% cards make them money. They bank on the fact that we will use the cards for items that they only give 1% on. Even at only 1%, it is still worth it for us to use the cards on anything we can, but they charge the merchant more than they rebate to us!
If they weren't making money on the program, they wouldn't offer it, that's for sure!!!!

That's a great point. But if you think about it... everyone wins that way!

Yes, I understand this. I guess what I meant to say is that the card companies have not taken any money from me personally and I intend to keep it that way. I am glad that the card companies are still making money though, otherwise people like us that pay in full every month wouldn't benefit because there wouldn't be any cash back cards.
