I know you have to be a college student to apply for this card, but the next best rebate card I know for restaurants after this one is the Costco True Earnings at 3% cash back. You must be a Costco member to get this card at no annual fee as well.
Anyway, I just applied for this card (Citi MtvU Visa) to replace my Discover 5% Restaurant card. It is 5 points for every dollar on restaurant purchases, and a bonus of 25 points per month for paying your bill on time and not going over your limit. Also, twice a year you can fax in your college grades to earn bonus points, up to 2,000 points.
Here are some of the rewards that I think are worth noting:
2,500 points = $25 student loan rebate
5,000 points = $50 student loan rebate
5,000 points = $50 gift card to the following merchants...
Dining:
Applebees, TGI Fridays, Omaha Steaks, Legal Seafoods, Red Lobster, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Hard Rock Cafe, Chili's, Olive Garden, Smith and Wollensky, Panera Bread
Gas:
Shell, Exxon Mobil
Electronic Stores:
Best Buy, Circuit City, J&R Music and Computer World,
Entertainment:
Spawish.com, Blockbuster
Retail Stores:
Motherhood Maternity, Banana Republic, Foot Locker, Gap, Old Navy, Target, Pottery Barn, K-Mart, Bath and Body Works, Service Master, Pier 1 Imports, Snap On Tools, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Linen n' Things, Babies "R" Us, Toys "R" Us,
Bookstores:
Barnes and Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks
Specialty Stores:
Orvis, Bissinger's Handcrafted Chocolatier, Eddie Bauer, Macy's, Lands' End, Sears, JCPenney, L.L. Bean, Crabtree & Evelyn, Sunglass Hut
Office Stores:
Staples, Office Depot, Comp USA
I would mostly redeem for the student loan rebates, or Target gift cards, since I go there all the time. It's too bad that the best cash rebate for this card is $250 at 38,000 points, but I'll take the gift cards for sure.
Any thoughts about this card?
