Post subject: Regal Entertainment Credit Card Offered by Chase

does anybody have this card? it issued by chase. i dont plan to use it except for going to the movies. you get free movie ticket every 1200 points, but when used at the movie theater, you earn 4 pts p/dollar.

so you have to spend $3000 at regal cinemas before they give you ONE free movie ticket?!?!?!?! i don't think i have spent $3000 in an entire decade of watching movies!!!

Just look at it this way, $3,000 at the typical 1% cash back rate (at the very least) is $30. I think that $30 will buy you more than 1 movie ticket, at least 2, if not 3 or 4. What a deal, eh? Of course it's obvious you should find another card to work for you if you visit the theatre that often.

The link is interesting. There is a 0% for "up to" 12 months intro offer for balance transfers. You get 1 pt for every dollar spent but 4 points per dollar spent at affiliated theaters, including the online fandango site for advance ordering of tickets. 1200 points get you a certificate for $10 that you can use in the theaters--so that's about 2 movie tickets for a $300 outlay in the theaters. (Around here, the tickets are $5.50 each non-prime-time hours.)
I'd say it's useful if you have a family that goes to the movies often and eats inside the theaters at the overpriced fattening concession stands. Heck, the 0% BT offer likely makes it worth applying for. I can't see using it for ordinary purchases, though. And if you have another card that gives a better movies discount, use that instead.
