Yuk.I have too many cards as it is, but maybe I'll look into that in a couple of months and get rid of my Chase Cash rewards and Citi Dividend Card.

I don't see the benefit in having a Discover Gas Card, when the Citi Dividend Card and Chase Cash Plus card are far more generous. And as far as I know, the Discover card is more difficult to get right?

According to what I read online, you can earn a maximum of $60 in rewards from the 5% back rate (the 5% rate applies to the first 1200 dollars spent on gas). Then you go to the regular paltry reward tier. The Citi Dividend card allows you to earn $300 back per year on gas *and* grocersies, and delivers 1% on all purchases rather than the .25% Discover offers.

I don't find Discover's cards that competetive in terms of rewards. I guess if you don't buy a lot of gas, and can't get other reward cards, this one works, but otherwise I think there are better cards on the market.

My current favorite gas card is the Hess VISA card. It gives a whopping 10% rebate for the first 90 days on all Hess purchases. After that it reverts back to the standard 5%. The downside is that the rebates are only applicable to future Hess purchases, but if you drive a lot this is not a problem

I agree that there isn't any benefit of having the Discover Gas Card because most of the savvy credit card users have either the Citi or Chase 5% cards if not both, but I do like the Discover Card with the Get More promotions. Although the current one is like a gas card, some of the Get More promotions go into areas where we can't get 5% from other cards. For example, I paid for a brother-in-law's dental visit in February because he doesn't have insurance (he is paying me back) and also my wife's dental visit (20% that insurance that doesn't cover). Without that promotion, I would get 1% on a different card instead of the 5% I got from Discover. Also there was the internet purchases promotion last Christmas season and hopefully future ones will be hitting areas that aren't covered with other cards.

You are correct on the gas limits. I do not kknow if Disc is harder to get. Since I will buy 1200 in gas in three months.....I think I;ll pick up the Citi Dividend too down the road. Thanks for the input
