Hi all, nice board you have here. I need a little help with a couple questions. If someone has the time or inclanation to answer it will be much appreciated.
My FICO is around 760, but now I am unemployed. My current main card is a Chase Platinum that I have had in good standing for years. It is a variable rate that I believe is around 13 percent right now. They keep automatically raising my limit. It's around 23,000 right now. I see from reading here that these raises are good, but awhile back I had asked them to stop as I didn't want my potential debt to be too high. I have some older cards as well, but heard it's best not to cancel the unused ones.
-So with no job, was stopping the increases a good move?
-My balance is getting close to the 50 percent mark, I hear that is a negative so am wondering if it's best to let the card limit increase.
-I don't pay late, but is it better to pay early? I thought it didn't matter, but I saw reference that it can help
-I'm disturbed to hear that Chase uses 2-cycle billing. Does this affect me since I carry a large balance? I do sometimes have new purchases as well.
-Any tips on gettting a better rate from Chase?
-I'd like to get a new card, but with no job will it be tough? That's why I thought it might be easier to negotiate a lower rate with Chase, but then I'm still stuck with 2-cycle billing.
Thanks all!
Peace

what's 2 cycle billing? you also have a high credit score. how long have you been unemployed? what you could do is apply for a new card, use your old employers address, use your home phone number for contact. use your cell # for a work number.

you can look up 2-cycle billing. There has been a lot of threads on it. You shouldnt carry a purchase balance. Always pay in full so you dont have to worry about it.
