Approved for HSBC Platinum Credit Card

Post subject: Approved for HSBC Platinum Credit Card

I recently applied for a hsbc cash back card, and i got a email from them saying i got approved for a hsbc platinum card. Can they do that? I also saw a pull from orchard bank on the same day as when i applied for the hsbc card. I did not apply for the orchard bank card, but i assume they did it anyway with my other application. Can they do that?

Most cc issuers have some fine print somewhere that say if you do not qualify for the applied for card that they may use your application for other products they offer.


Orchard pull.... was it hard or soft?

I should have read the fine print then =(, it was a hard pull from experian. Funny thing is i checked orchard's application status it says approved for the same amount as the hsbc, but i have received nothing from orchard. Makes me think if they only gave me the hsbc one and leaving me with a hard pull with no orchard card.

orchard is affliated with hsbc...i think?

orchard did the same thing to me...i applied for something and got something else...blur!

Always read your applications. Any credit card issuer can offer you one product, but then if you do not qualify, can switch you to the next product for which you qualify.
Its kinda like being invited to a champagne brunch, but settling for the wine.
