Pre-Approved for Chase Credit Card?

Post subject: Pre-Approved for Chase Credit Card?

Saturday I received a pre-approval letter from Chase for a Platinum. I applied online last night and the system said that I would receive my decision in the mail.
Well today, I received an email saying "welcome to chase, etc, etc. Does this mean I was approved?
I called the 800 number and it said it was still pending. It wasn't one of those phishing emails requesting my info. So whats the deal with people experience?

"Welcome to Chase" probably means you're now a Chase customer, so you're probably approved for some sort of card. Might not be the one you applied for, though. Doesn't the rest of the email give you more info?

Seems to me you got approved for something. I'd be a bit surprised if there wasn't some form of details in there that tells you what.

On your pre-approval letter there should be a 888, or 800 telephone number. If you dial that number and select #2 when the recording comes on. It should say check the status of application, type in your social security number. It will tell you if you were approve or not. If you do not have the 888, or 800 telphone number you can call this number
888-815-4582 select #2.
