Each retailer has their own criteria. Overall I would say yes. But you should
also be aware that there is a hierarchy of debt. Secured debt which would be a
purchase in association with a tangible debt such as a car, house and even a
secured credit card are the highest valued debts. The next is unsecured debt
which would be debts such as a credit card, dental bill, etc. These debts have
no asset associated with them. The lowest valued credit is a store card or
gasoline charge card.

The value of this latter debt besides convenience is the ability to show some credit history when applying for debt higher on the list of hierarchy of debt.
