I'm hope this is the right place to post this tax question:
After sitting on hold with the IRS for an hour and not getting a representative, I decided to ask here.
I designed a website for someone and made $150. It was a one time thing and I don't have a web design business. Do I still have to file a schedule C plus pay self employment tax? Also do I need to get a 1099 from the person who paid me for the website? Any help is appreciated.

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but the answer here is pretty clear. See:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,, ... 63,00.htmlYes, you do have to report the $150 as miscellaneous income on a Schedule C. No, you don't need a 1099 form--that only has to be submitted for income of $600+.
I'm not saying that anything bad would happen if you overlooked this income. You would probably get away with not reporting it, frankly. But that wasn't your question.

And, FWIW, Schedule C-EZ is a great Q&D form that's well suited for this situation and can be substituted for the longer form.
