Remarks: I have good credit scores and I would like to get a new credit card. I'm looking for:
- good customer service and accepted at most places

Your best choice if you're making charges outside of the US would be a CapOne rewards card. There are no charges for foreign transactions.

Their customer service is not great. I've heard about problems with people getting payments posted in a timely manner through snail mail payments and, I think, through their own online payment service. I pay my CapOne bill through the free bill pay service from the bank where I have my main checking account and I've never had a problem - although I do tend to pay well before the due date in all cases.

Capital One would be the best for foreign purchases since they don't charge foreign transaction fees (as Lance90 mentioned). But you can definitely find better interest rates and "cash back" options out there - Discover offers up to 5% cash back. So to figure out which card is best for you, you'll have to consider how, when and where you'll use the card the most - then weigh the PROS and CONS of each card you're considering.

For example, if you'll only be in Canada for short periods of time and will make most of your purchases in the U.S. - a Capital One card might not be the best option since the amount you can save on foreign transactions will be minimal. In this case, you might be better off with more cash back or a lower APR...

I found American Express the best ever that can earn up to 5% cash back. Contains Blue, Gold and Green Reward cards as well.

Capital One does not charge fees when used out of country. I will not name the credit card, but I went to Europe in 2005 unaware I would be charged extra fees. I came home and was sick when I looked at the statement and saw the extra fees. I prefer to carry Capital One cards because I travel every other year out of country.
