I rated this company poor because even with all the changes they are still basically subprime. Their email is a joke. you can't even ge answers to basic questions online. I have yet t receive a reply other than 'Please contact customer service'. I thought that was what I was doing sending the email. Alot of times I send messages while working and with 13 hr work-dqys the last thing I want to due is sit through some indeterminable hold time waiting on someone who more than likely not won't be able to answer the question anyway.

I just applied for a Capital One Platinum card about several weeks ago. While I was approved right away, I was only given a $500 limit. I basically built my own card through their website and elected to have the following features: 2% cash back on gas/supermarkets, 1% cash back everything else, 9.9% fixed APR, and last but not least 0% on purchases until October 2009.

When I realized that I was only given a $500 limit I was certainly disappointed. I have had limits in excess of $10,000 on multiple cards with no problem (with Citibank before the credit crunch). I was more or less disappointed because I would not really need to revolve a balance (to take advantage of the 0% on purchases) for a balance under $500 (it is much easier just to pay that off each month). When my card finally arrived I asked the customer service agent if they would be willing to reconsider my credit limit (he did some checking but ultimately said he could not do anything and that Capital One would reevaluate my limit in the future automatically)... I assume if they grant such a request it will be after the 0% is done with.

So far I would rate my interaction with Capital One customer service as fair overall. Seeing how I have had this card less than a month and no "real" problems have come up just based on my initial interactions and experience with the card a fair seems warranted. BTW I asked the customer service representative about the mandatory arbitration clause and asked how I could opt out. He did not know what I was talking about and it was starting to really irritate me. While I understand companies are going to outsource to save money... I think it is irresponsible for a company to outsource to someone who either 1) does not understand what I am saying and or 2) when I don't understand what they're saying.

Hopefully they review my limit soon and I hope I do not have any problems with them just so I do not have to speak to their customer service representatives!

As has been stated ad nauseum on the board, it's just about impossible to get a CLI from them, no matter how good a customer you have been or how high your FICO score might be. Statements are sometimes delayed for a long time, and calling customer service usually takes a few calls to get things ironed out. I use the card a lot since they don't charge for foreign transactions, but I wish I felt I were dealing with a more competent company.

I voted poor service for the same reasons. I'll give you the mini story.

After our bankruptcy I started getting all the applications. I called Capital 1 and they outright lied to me. They told me the account would grow with me, the annual fee would drop off as long as I kept the account in good standing. Well, needless to say, after 4 years and more phone calls than I can remember I still only have an $800.00 limit (up from the $300.00 initially) and there was still the $49.00 annual fee. All this after several years of perfect payments.

Since none of it really grew with me I closed my account. This started before I discovered this site, now I know better.

Hi, I have had several capital one cards that didn't grow, they stayed stuck at the into rate I originally got. No matter how much time had passed they would not lower the interest rate.

Capital One customer service is the worst I have experienced by any bank ever. In my case, when I reported a fradulant transacdtion, they did not do any investigation and I had to resolve it with merchant. In fact, they violated Fair Credit Billing Act and I would have sued, had I been in US during that time.

I voted it on a poor service because despite of the beautiful and convincing promises, they do not do it in actions. My capital card was lost and reported it to the nearest bank but unfortunately they did not do any fast legal actions onto it. If I didn't show that I was starting to fed up, they still won't do anything to solve it. Contact Center

Started at 7.9% fixed. Raised to 12.9% fixed for no reason. Raised again to 17.9% variable for no reason. 8 years with Capital One, 0 late payments, FICO high 700's, balance less than 50% of limit.

They have an "ultimate" card at 11.9%, but won't transfer the balance from another Cap One card. They are essentially forcing me to go to a different card company where I can transfer the balance and get something under 13%. I'm not trying to get a intro rate transfer, just trying to keep a semi-reasonable rate.

Sorry to hear that, that is filthy, that they rate jacked you more than once especially with your high score.

All of the credit card companies have that policy - that if you own more than one card with them OR an affiliate, they will not allow you to transfer money between them accounts, you have to get another card from a another company all together.

I have a link in the credit card section up top linking to some of the major credit card companies, you might want to look at. Also you can go to the main page here at cardratings to see what they have to offer for deals. www.cardratings.com

Thanks, good luck with finding a good card, also let you know now if you get a new card, and any company rate jacks you, they have to lower it back down after 6 months of on time payment. Plus they are suppose to give advance notice and allow a consumer to opt out and close the account so not to take the higher interest rate.

CapOne service is very poor. I have a substantial credit on my account because I transferred a portion of the credit balance to a 0% interest rate promotion and then was able to refinance a loan and was given a bank check payable to CapOne for the balance (before I made the transfer). So, I called CapOne to request the refund of the credit or overpayment and they said that I would not be able to receive the credit for at least 10 to 15 days! Something about waiting for the bank check to clear! The customer service phone number is serviced in the Philipenes. I paid off some other credit institution with the refinance and they did not mention anything about waiting 10 to 15 days to process my refund. I feel as though Cap One is holding onto my refund so that I might accept an offer to transfer balances. No way! I'll open an account with any other institution but never with Cap One again! Does any one know if there is a recoarse to trying to recover my refund?
