Hooters Card CL Decrease "Computer Glitch"

Postby Telemakhos on Sat Oct 31, 2009 6:27 pm

Just had my Hooters MC declined after trying to pay a bill online.

I had plenty of available credit a few days ago, having paid a $1,500 balance off a few weeks ago.

I log into the site to find that I'm at $-350.00 for my credit line, which has been dropped from $2,600 to $200.

So I call to speak to a rep to see what's going on. I'm told that it's a computer glitch and that I cannot use the card until the CL's are reset on Monday.

The same yada-yada: never been late with a payment, always PIF each time. Hooters' APR's are ridiculous, necessitating I do so -- although I do get 1% back each transaction, so the card see heavy useage each month.

Sound suspicious? What should I expect from the outcome of this "glitch" come Monday?

Btw, I have tons of Hooters points to redeem to the tune of, likely, $350. Sound like a good time to redeem?

Turns out the glitch was removed, and I was actually given a CLI of $200.

My CLI is now up from $2,500 to $2,700.

I'd never seen anything like this before, and thought it was a portent of things to come -- as many cards seem to be giving CLD's instead of CLI's. Guess I was wrong.

Case closed. :)

In other news, I just logged into my Cap One account and saw that I just got a CLI of $1K for one of my two Cap One cards.

The one card went up from $800 to $1,800 over the weekend. The other card still remains at a peasly $750, but Cap One is open to folks calling for CLI's, so maybe I'll do that in the near future.

Glad to hear it was just a glitch and they fixed things. I would look at the credit report to make sure all is reporting correctly and their are no problems resulting from the glitch.

Thanks Nightstar,

I hadn't thought about checking the report. But come to think of it, this glitch *did* occur at the end of the month, when credit is reported.

I'll give them a call to see how my account was reported, but still check the report. It's been half a year anyway, and I'm due.
