The Discover More Card has a new offer for first-time card holders, and the terms make this credit card more than live up to its name. Retaining many of the Discover card standard features, such as the bonus cash back rewards available to card holders shopping on the company's shopping portal, the latest version of the Discover More Card has a few other tricks up its paper sleeve.
New account holders who spend $1,000 in the first three months can earn $150 from the Discover More Card's Cashback Bonus program. This is equivalent to as much as 15 percent cash back, and the card pays the signup bonus at a lower threshold than many other current promotional offers.
In addition, the first $3,000 in purchases earns 0.25 percent cash back. After the $3,000, anything else put on the card in that same year will earn 1 percent cash back rewards, making this card a good bet for people who use their credit cards for everyday expenses and pay off the balance each month.
The introductory offer being promoted is 0 percent APR on purchases for six months from the account opening date. Once the introductory offer is over, the APR goes to 10.99 percent to 20.99 percent depending on the cardholder's creditworthiness.
Balance transfers are also eligible for zero percent APR for any transfer that posts to the account before June 10, 2012. Transfer fees during that introductory period are 3 percent of the transfer balance; after that, the fee is 5 percent or $10, whichever is more.
Other features of the Discover More card include no annual fee, and the company's 5 percent cash back bonus feature on different categories each quarter. For the upcoming quarter from January to March 2012, card holders can earn a 5 percent cash back bonus on up to $300 worth of gas and entertainment purchases. Entertainment categories include museums and movies.
