Frequent business travelers can expect to enjoy enhanced acceptance of both Diners Club and Discover credit cards when traveling in Western Europe over the coming months. An agreement between Discover Card and payment processor Elavon will add the cards to Elavon's all-in-one merchant account services. Elavon processes credit card payments for over a million independent merchants in locations such as:
- United Kingdom
- France
- Ireland
- Benelux
- Germany
- Switzerland
Diners Club spokesperson Gerry Wagner told reporters that the new agreement "demonstrates Diners Club International's commitment towards rapidly expanding acceptance in the United Kingdom and Western Europe as we continue with our goal of expanding our global network." Wagner also noted that the new agreement would consolidate the credit card acceptance process for European merchants, making it easier for restaurants and hotels to accept Diners Club cards.
Diners Club International, a business unit of Discover Financial Services, has provided cash management and expense account solutions for business customers since 1950. Discover's own credit cards have proven themselves popular with business travelers, who enjoy earning cash back and other rewards on reimbursable expenses.
