Oh, I realize it’s only pre-approved to apply, I’m just confused because they just denied me. I don’ t know whether to let it go, call them, or what? I don’t know why they put “pre-approved” on the envelopes. We all know that they’re not. (sigh)

You get pre-approved offers from your credit profile a month or two back while you are denied off a recent hard credit pull.

If you want to fight it, call Discover and ask for reconsideration from your existing application. Don’t try to apply again.

Thanks for the advice. I may call them—not sure yet. I do want a discover card, but it kind of irritates me that they were the only ones to deny me too. And it’s especially irritating to get a pre-approved offer so soon after the denial. How could amex give me 15,000 and discover decline and they both used ex to pull from?
