Dude, I absolutely agree with the majority here. The last thing you need is a credit card or a loan. I know you think you’ll be able to pay it off in a couple of months but in your circumstances I’ll wager in a couple of months you’ll find yourself even more stressed about money because you’ll still need cash to live on plus now you’ll have creditors breathing down your neck for their money. Stay as far away from credit as you can right now and whatever you do DO NOT lie to get it. As others have said getting a credit card in your situation will most likely trash your credit history and leave you regretting the decision for a long time. Get a couple of jobs ASAP no matter what they are and start earning your way out of the situation. You’ll be much happier in the long term and I think it will really help you to get a better start in your adult life.

Seriously! That’s the worst thing he could do to himself right now and who is going to believe an 18 year old with no credit history makes $25K per year and owns a house?

The problem is that I need money to even get a job. For example I already applied for a job as a security guard. While my written application will most likelly be accepted, I still need $50 for training and $75 for fingerprinting. I don’t have any backround money to do this, not a single dollar. My parents won’t support or help me anymore, so I can’t really ask money from them. I don’t own some things; just a bed, desk, clothes, and a computer and I need all these things (I can’t really sell many things I have anyways because many aren’t in buying quality.

I may be able to pay off my debts in a month or two once I have the job (if I make and save enough). I just need a few hundred dollars, is there another way?

Instead of getting an Amex card, consider a secured Visa or Mastercards. Your parents can help set it up. Once you have it and use it responsibly, your credit will better, your limit will be increased and you’ll have other opportunities available to you.

I’m don’t think I can get my parents to help set it up because they won’t help. But speaking of visa and mastercard……..do the really tend to be more secure? What would be the best card for my current situation from visa or mastercard (if I get a credit card at all).

What about other jobs? There are lots of jobs out there that don’t require an initial investment like that. What you need is money as soon as possible, however you can earn it. I mean heck working at McDonalds isn’t prestigious, it won’t pay a lot but it will pay you something and won’t charge you anything to start. If you pick up a couple of jobs like that for the moment, then you will soon have the money you need to do something like being a security guard. My point is that you should take whatever job(s) you can get right now and start making something, then work your way up to something you would rather do.

Credit isn’t the answer for you right now.
