Is there a difference between pre-approved offers received in the mail versus those that are offered to you when you log off a CC site? By “difference” I mean in terms of one’s ability to be successful in obtaining a new card.
BoA has been offerring me one when I log off and I don’t know whether to attempt to apply since I recently reallocated my 3 existing BoA cards. Am I tempting fate? I don’t want to apply and be declined especially if a hard pull in involved.

boa sends out two different app forms.
one asks for alot of info, one asks for just a few basic items. i think if you follow the link and it is only asking for a little info you have the card.
this might be different with mbna in the picture now

I can only speak from my experience at the end of last month, where I applied for both the BoA Sig and BoA Amex from “log off offers” almost back to back (a day apart). I didn’t receive an immediate online approval in either instance. However, approvals came through within 24 hours of my app in each case.
From that experience I’d suggest that the BoA log off offers are at least as strong as a pre-approved offer you receive in the mail. I’ll note that in my case, these offers used phrasing akin to “you’ve qualified to apply”.

“PRE-APPROVED” TO APPLY
But it is USUALLY better than a “COLD CALL” application
