I'm curious about something.
If you have a card that you don't use anymore...or want to get rid of because the card is about to ding you for the yearly fee...do you cancel your card?
I've read here that canceling cards isn't good. But what if you don't want to keep paying the yearly fee?

You can ask for a waiver of the fee or trade for a NO FEE CARD

The thing with closing it is how it affects your average age of accounts and FICO score. Now, that is not unimportant, but I would not pay an annual fee for it. After all.....FICO scoring is not paying the fee or anyof your other bills.
Ask for the change like Mouse suggests.
If the answer is no....call back and cancel. You may find that once you are on the phone with them to cancel that that is when they break down and grant your request.
Good luck.
Tell us how you make out and who the lender is.
