Thanks, guys.
Of course I could just "use" the up points. In fact AMEX previously had a "cash back" deal on the points. 20,000 points would get you a hundred dollar bill off of your card!
Well, just a couple of weeks ago, Good Ole AMEX killed that deal!
It seems that after a gazillion years AMEX finally figured out that people(like me) were paying their yearly $90.00 combined fee.....and then just getting the fees right back by shelling out 20,000 points for a $100 cash back!
Their computers finally realized that this was no good for AMEX! So now you might wonder, "Just send them 20,000 points for a $100.00 AMEX gift certificate".
No good! You are charged around 10.00 to have the thing "shipped" to you. And I don't want to spend this $100.00 on something I don't need!
AMEX is making sure that people like me, who have spent in the neighborhood of maybe $20,000 a year (consistent), for over 26 years straight.... don't get a nickel (back) for doing it.
Whatever!
I am happy that I found this site. I know that I'm going to learn something here to make things right.
I can feel it!!

Sorry to hear that happened, I would of been of the same mind myself to use the extra points for cash deducted on the balance.
Hopefully you can get the points transfered,, hate to see you have to waste the points on something you really don't want.

To tell you the truth, I already think that mouse has told me that I have been a total idiot for all these past 26 years!
mouse: your're right on the money, Baby!
Why did I ever (way back in 1980) apply for this Green Card in the first place? Because I thought it was a credit card!! I really did, mouse. It's sad!
Anyway, I'm a little bit p...... off to have to ask these AMEX people for a break after spending maybe $500,000 (which gives them a 4% fee: of $20,000), and then to request that maybe they could just once (one time) waive the annual fee of $55,00 .....and then to be laughed at!
Still.....I am happy to have found this site.

I still don't believe you were an idiot. You built a solid history.
It's just time to move on and find a product that meets your present needs.
It's sad to see that they will not accommodate a good customer.
As for the 20K points for $100 deal, WHAT DEAL? Defeats the entire principal of the program for you.
