Dont you know Ajulius has something against Citibank/BOA. Loves to make flase statements about both.
For Example “Citibank has been cutting back on rewards programs on CC’s and at the bank they cut back on the thank you points as well.”
Citibank did lower the cash back bonus on Citi Dividend Platinum Select card from 5% at EDS to 2% but this card never offered Thank you points it was a cash back only card.
As Far as the bank side you still earning same points for banking with Citibank that you have earned over the last 2 years they did not scale back or change points earned amount.
Chase and Citibank both over the last 6 months changed both of there rewards programs now require more points for redeming a $50 GC worth From 5k to 6K points but left the $100 GC point value at 10K points and every other reward was unchanged. So I have a felling they felt they wanted to reduce thier cost for the rewards program by making people use thier points to redem for larger amount items instead of redeming more often for smaller denomination items.
MBNA and BOA changed thier rewards program form a tier redemtion level to a straight 1% cash back from a max of 2% and World points program has the same redemtions values as both Chase/Citi program where redeming $50 GC cost more than penny a point but for $100+ GC you can redem them at a penny a point.
So Citi just changed thier Thank You program to have the same redemtion value that both MBNA and Chase implemented first.
