Applied for a CC, they gave me a very low credit limit with a very high credit score awhile back. Because of that I had never used the credit card. I have much higher limits with other banks. Citibank gave me $3600 while my others are 20-30k+ and I have paid back large sums before. I had a 0% balance transfer still available on the card for $3600 which is useless for me. I have superprime credit, top scores, less than 50% utilization on all cards with large balances paid off.

I had asked for a CLI increase after awhile because if they increased it I would have used the card. Instead they decided to let me walk, and so I did. Citibank has been cutting back on rewards programs on CC's and at the bank they cut back on the thank you points as well.

Awhile back I did banking with Citibank but they lost my business then as well because they did NOT make good on a promotion offer. I got the promotion then cancelled the account thereafter.

It looks like Chase has got my business now and is my primary lender. I still get offers for 0% promotions and I bet if I applied I would get MUCH higher Credit limits than Citibank as well.

Citibank seems to be doing everything to COST them my business and so it did.

From looking at the big money banks, it looks like Citibank has HSBC growing MORE strongly as well as Chase which just merged with Bank Of New York which grew organically and with the merger as well.

Bank Of America's offerings also are subpar and I only keep my MBNA card because of MBNA billpay.

American Express is also good as well and I never had issues with them.

As for a future 0% offer, will see what comes in the mail as soon as I pay back another rather large balance (Oh but Citibank said my revolving credit limits were too high, maybe Citibank will come back with a 0% counteroffer and then REJECT me after I apply, LOL)

With Citibank I have had nothing but issue after issue and I am a super prime customer no less.

The point was I had a single card with a superlow limit at $3600. If I applied for another card I would have gotten EVEN LOWER than $3600 if I got approved at all.

I have paid back superlarge balances and dont have to combine $3600 and $2500 offers when in fact I can get straight up high lines FROM EVERY BANK OUT THERE except CITIBANK who wont even increase me from $3600. This was a slap in the face especially since I have paid back VERY LARGE BALANCES consistently.

When they assigned me $3600 at the beginning it was a slap in the face. I was going to cancel the card but figured they would just raise it if I ask since my credit score has gone up since last time which was also a top score. Nope.

The reason on my denial was completely bogus because all balances were under 50% threshhold and during the time I have received preapproved credit for 30k+ credit lines and 0% preapproved offers from other banks which would have instantly approved me.

Doesn't matter though. Will never do business with Citibank again. HSBC is NOW on par to beating Citibank in marketshare as the local bank deposits are growing SUPERFAST while Citibank is now losing marketshare. Citibank has been cutting back on everything including rewards programs on CCs as well as thank you points for those doing their banking there.

Will just take advantage of a preapproved offer from a competitor and I will be ready to go for my next deal, most likely HSBC.

Its not just me, alot of customers are cancelling CCs and moving funds from Citibank because of discontinuance of the rewards programs and soon interest rate tiers as better can be had from the other banks.

HSBC as of now seems like one of those beneficiaries in the top tier of banks.
