U.S. Bank Credit Card Credit Line Increase

I am a new US Bank cardholder and was wondering if any current US Bank Credit card holders can tell me if US Bank offers a LUV button?

So far all I can find is a 3 page form to fill out to request a CLI.

I haven't worked there for a couple years, so this may have changed, but I was a US Bank CSR for awhile. When I worked there, the account had to be open for awhile (I believe it was 6 months) before it was even eligible for a CLI. The reason for that I guess is that you were just approved for the card, and they approved you for the credit line that they were willing to give you - if you were eligible for more they would have given it to you when they opened the account.

Also, you can ask for a CLI over the phone. After the six months have passed you may qualify for an instant CLI, which is very fast and easy to do over the phone. If they can't offer you an instant increase they'll ask a few financial questions and say they will "send it to the credit department for review" which usually means you're declined, but it is possible you can get an increase. The CSRs are trained to never tell you you're declined because the credit dept. does technically make the decision, so you have to wait for a letter to get the official decision and reason.

As with everything, that's the CSR answer - there are always exceptions. If you really need a CLI immediately it will need to be escalated to a supervisor, who may need to escalate it further.

US Bank is very liberal with limit increases the longer you have an account with them and keep it in good standing. After the six months have elapsed, you can normally call and ask every 3 months for another one.

I've had a US Bank Visa for almost three years, and they tend to give me automatic increases every six months - so far up to $2,000 per incident.The increase shows up on my statement and is automatically posted on my on-line account.

I called once to inquire about a CLI increase, and they said that they prefer not to do increases in less than six month's time.

That's been OK with me, and I've been very satisfied with the overall level of service with the bank - I've had accounts with them for a long time.

FWIW, I've yet to carry a balance with them, and my utilization has never gone over 10%. It's not something that I'm conciously doing - I just don't use my cards all that much.

I am also a new US Bank customer. I know the bank has rated high in customer service, and from what I hear that will be more than willing to work with you on increases after a six month or so time period
