MasterCard has an upgraded version of the world MasterCard targeted for consumers who earn more than $250,000 per year. Here is the link to find out more and Saks Fifth Ave. is the only one offering it from what I can tell. Very sheik!

Interestingly, I can’t seem to find anything this card offers that a regular World Card does not. No pre-set limit, concierges, travel and dining benefits, event access, extended warrenty, etc. are all features of every World card. In fact, that they won’t even talk about the details of the “SaksFirst” rewards program is an immediate turn-off. It may not even be as flexible as the regular World card’s requirement of options for cash, travel, merchandise, or gift cards. The rates definitely suck as well.

This seems to be a marketing ploy for Saks to use to reward its top-tier loyalty shoppers and nothing more. Actually, I shouldn’t say nothing more as its definitely also a marketing ploy for HSBC to be able to finally claim a prestige card as well.

On the other hand, I do LOVE the fact that the card features a stripe running right across the middle of the face containing the words “World Elite.” They couldn’t even come up with an original design? They had to blatently steal the exact same design all Visa Signature cards have had for three years now? That, my friends, is as MasterCard would say: PRICELESS

Receive all the benefits of SAKSFIRST*, plus:

• Companion airline tickets
• Complimentary concierge service
• Complimentary airport lounge privileges
• No annual fee

From the application page for the card. Dont know any other mastercard with no annual with “Complimentary airport lounge privileges” If i am wrong please correct. I dont think world mastercard from MBNA or even $199 annual fee Platium Amex card from MBNA gives you “Complimentary airport lounge privileges”

Only cards with this benfits are Diners Club $95 a year, Citibank Chairman Card $400 a year. Amex Platium Charge Card $400 a year and Centurion Card $2500 a year.

If I forget any please let me know. This Complimentary airport lounge privileges could be as crapy as Diners Club which runs there own clubs at like 20 airports or like Amex Platium Charge card which gets you into only CO and Delta lounges when flying them or as good as Chairmen and and Centurions which gives you full access to Priority Pass clubs which most of the airlines and private clubs in airports belong too.

Ah Ha! There are some differences… thanks I didn’t see those off of the link, but I was too tired to keep searching around the site last night.

You are correct, no other World MC other than airline specific cards (i.e. Continental World card by Chase) offer airport lounge access or companion airline tickets. With respect to the MBNA Platinum AmEx, it does indeed carry both features. The MBNA Gold AmEx features companion airline tickets but no airport lounge access.
