I didn’t think HSBC approved me so I went ahead and applied for the Chase card. Lo and behold I got an approval letter in the mail from HSBC congratulating me for being approved but they needed some type ID…social security/driver’s license…etc. That kind of makes me mad because if I knew I was approved by them I wouldn’t have applied for the Chase and could have had one less hit on my credit.

HSBC has a preapproval application on their site that only does a soft pull. I don’t know if they offer this particular card on it though. When I tried, I got returned all their “prime” cards but this one wasn’t on the list.
