this all happened 2 years back , when i had no clue what i was doing , but now i am an expert …..just kidding…
Tom ,you are so very right about the car dealerships, they will do whatever to get you approved …and the stupid custommer thank the salesman afterward ….then they get home and find 10 inq…..

Another thing that people may not be aware of. Banks (at least Chase) can and will pull a credit report to verify your identity. this is done as a last resort, but these are hard pulls to verify employment and other tradelines. just a heads up. if they ask you funky questions about people you are related to, or the color of the beamer that you drive, answer them! because if you cant verify, they will pull a credit report, and they are not required to tell you.

also, chase NEVER increases credit limits on request without a hard pull.

I’ve had routine CLIs from Chase over the years without a hard pull. Is that a new policy?

.. how did you request it? if you bully your way thru to the lending department, unless they have a recent report to go off of, they would still need a pull

how long has it been since you got one without a hit?

if its automatic, no inquiry, but a requested one needs a pull
