AT&T Universal Credit Card Cash Rewards Offer

Post subject: AT&T Universal 5% cash back or only 1% ?

The AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card shows "5% cash back on purchases until 12/01/2004" which I interpret to mean ALL purchases. However, later they say "5% of purchases made at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations". So which is it, and how can I be sure? In the application form online, they did not indicate any way to contact them for clarification.

They advertise several AT&T Universal cards with different promos and terms. Do a seach on google, you'll find some of them. Whatever you apply for, print out the terms for the record.

Bankruptcy Friendly Credit Card Company

Rec'd this application the other day. Card sponsored by US Bank. There is a fee for this card which is fine. I'm just kind of tired getting declined for air mileage cards because of previous and now discharged Chapter 13. Credit score is 719 with a 6 figure income. I do have credit now but I have not been able to get an air miles card. Anybody have any experience with this card? I've heard US Bank not Chapter 13 friendly.

Thanks.

Applied for this card. Rec'd rejection today. 719 score with a discharged Chapter 13. I was told that getting a mileage card with a shaky credit past very hard. Guess that was good info.

I don't see them in the list as being a bankruptcy friendly creditor - you might try one of the others listed here. EDIT: Sorry, linking within the site always seems to be a problem for me, Go to a post in the General Credit Section called Piggyback I am going to bump it up for you to check out.

Not brand specific. I use my AAA Visa for gas purchases, my Amex Blue for cash rewards, my BP MasterCard for groceries thanks to its 2% rebate, my Discover thanks to 0% balance transfer, etc. Most people go by features, not brand.

Both Mastercard & VISA, but I think VISA I use more, not because of preference, just because this happened to be what I got when I applied for the card. I am not really up on the difference myself.

Advice Dealing with Credit Card Company

Post subject: moving my account around

HI, All, I am new to this board and I am very glad to be here. This is my first question. I received a letter from an AC who had previously been with another AC now they tell me this : This accoutnt has been transferred from AC to AC under the Fair Debt Collect Practices Act as a consumer we are informing you of this transaction. This new AC has purchased the above account XXXX. It goes on to tell me how important it is for me to call their professional services. Now I sent the first and second AC's C&D along with verification request. These both got CRRR. What whould be the best action or letter to send as I have again 30 days to respond to the newest AC? Also, received from a different AC awknowledging C&D but this also carried with it request for verification witch is past 30 days. This letter say's that "The letter serves as notice that my account information is being placed on my credit report" In my letter I said that if, they put any neg's on my CR that I would notify my AG. I think I should just file this one. Need anyone's imput please as I received the first one 6-10 and the 2nd 6-14. Good bless this board

Post subject: Re: moving my account around

When you sent the Cease & Desist Letters, where they full or limited... have to be carefull not to send the FULL C&D because then it might provoke them to legal remedy. With Limited C&D you are just informing them to contact you by mail only. So - so far you have chased off 2 collection agencies, and a 3rd one just bought the collection account.

Quote:
What whould be the best action or letter to send as I have again 30 days to respond to the newest CA?

Once again you are at square one, send out yet another request for debt validation and a limited cease and desist letter to the new collection agency.

This letter say's that "The letter serves as notice that my account information is being placed on my credit report" In my letter I said that if, they put any neg's on my CR that I would notify my AG. I think I should just file this one.

Let me stop on second on this, and ask you - this is for sure the 1st letter you have received from this collection agency concerning the account. Because if you did not send DV request to them within 30 days - you could of lost your right to expect DV response. If you are within your 30 days rights, then I agree with you about contacting the AG, would forward copy of that letter, and if you kept the original DV letter you sent to them also copy that to forward to the Attorney Gerneral - pointing out that you had 30 days to request validation and they choose to ignore your rights...

Quote:
Need anyone's imput please as I received the first one 6-10 and the 2nd 6-14.

Both of these collection agencies referring to the same debt then? This is hard when they start swapping around like this - it is done on purpose to confuse you and make you miss your 30 day period to request DV. So to be on the safe side, ever time you see a new company corresponding with you, automatically send them a letter - just to be safe.

Good bless this board[/quote]

What should my debt to income ratio be for a consolidation loan?

Message: Guest

Post subject: Debt to income ratio

What is the average debt to income ratio that banks go up to for a debt consolidation loan? (Personal UNsecured loan) The bank I'm applying with say thay they DO count the exisiting bills monthly payments like they will still be there even after they are paid off. They are really conservative. But anyways, what debt to income ratio do big name banks use?

Lenders set their own policies, of course. Often 36% is the cut-off point according to:

bcsalliance.com/y_debtratio.html

That link also says:

Quote:
Do not include grocery, telephone, and utility bills or any debt that will be paid off in the next few months. If your car loan will be paid off two or three months from now, don't include it in the equation. How absurd this all is! Why aren't grocery/telephone/utility bills included in the calculation? Don't they have to be paid too? Why is the ratio important rather than the difference between the fixed expenses and your income--that's the number that shows how much money you have to spare. And if the point of a loan is to consolidate debts at a lower interest rate, what difference does it make what your payments are NOW or how much money you owe NOW as long as you can make the payments on the loan you're taking out to pay off those other debts? Your debt isn't going up--your payments are going down. If you're able to pay your bills now, you'll be able to pay them after consolidating the debt at a lower interest rate too. (Yes, circumstances can change--but that's always true regardless of the current debt or lack of debt, isn't it?) Silly. Silly banks. Stupid banks.

Banks are happy to loan you money if you can demonstrate that you don't actually need it. In other words they're looking for the financially insane.

I have a friend who has a mortgage for 49,000 @ 6% interest. would it be wise to pay the mortgage off or to take the 49,000 & put it in a cd @ 4% interest?

The answer will depend on your friend's combined federal and state marginal tax bracket and whether he writes off mortgage interest or not. Most likely, it's better to pay off the mortgage.

1040-A write off for the mortgage or A tax bite for the CD You can look at it as a benefit of 6% by paying off the mortgage

Real credit card companies don't operate this way. There are lots of scams out there involving a $200-$300 automatic withdrawal from your checking account. I doubt you will even receive a card. For details on how to proceed with your bank and get your money back (if you didn't catch this in time) check out CREDIT SCAMS at eyeoncredit.com

A persons ability to rebuild relies so much on pulling the credit reports just as soon as the bankruptcy discharges, spend a few months disputing getting everything updated properly to reflect zero balance included in bankruptcy - or a person if they want can try credit repair to bump off the negative information. What ever is done, don't apply for any new credit until the credit reports are cleaned or updated.
