Request for Credit Card Advice

Can anyone tell me if I would be approved for a cap 1 card? I keep getting guaranteed pre-approval offers and my last credit report said that my score has been increasing little by little, but I NEED more credit (only have 1 revolving card now). I really need another card, but don't know my chances. I am unemployed now, but am an artist, so I get around $500-$700/month from selling artwork on the side. The app asks for Household income...is that just all of mine, or is that both my fiance's and mine? I live in Texas and my fico scores are: Trans U 599; Equifax 638; and Experian 649. Thanks for your opinions!

Is a Visa debit card or an ATM card a better choice?

Post subject: ATM or Debit?

I just opened a checking and savings account at Bank One today. The lady who opened the acoounts for me asked me which of the two card products (ATM or debit) I wanted. I wasn't sure so I told her I would call her back. I have never had either one. I use two credit cards heavily for all my purchases. The only thing I would use an ATM machine for is to get cash when I need it, or to deposit an occasional check from someone. I know roughly the difference between the ATM card and the debit card. Based on my spending patterns, is there a good reason to get the debit card, with a Visa logo? The bank will only let you have one or the other. Can anyone help?

Post subject: new credit card?

Hello. I hope someone has some advice for my dilemma. I received chapter 7 bankruptcy dismissal in January 2003. I lost my job in April of 2003. Up til now, this has not been an issue as I have been using cash and my debit card to pay for things. I did not plan to apply for another credit card until I found another job. However, Thanksgiving and Christmas are approaching, and I need to rent a car to travel to see my parents in rural Virgina. A car is the only way to get there. I have been reserving and paying for rentals with my debit (Visa check) card. But now the rental company (Budget) no longer will accept debit. I called all of the other rental companies in my area and none will accept even the reservation without a credit card. I have received offers for unsecured credit cards from Capital One, Orchard Bank (Household Finance) and Providian. I know from one of my credit reports that Capital One and Providian have made inquires so they are aware of my bankruptcy. Should I go ahead and apply for one of these now? Or should I apply for a secured card ( I am thinking that my current unemployment status would be a non-issue since the card would be backed by my own money). I have more that enough money to pay for the rentals, I just need a card. If you think I should try for the unsecured card, which would be the best? If you think the secured card would be the easiest route, where should I look to find the best card? I would need a secured card that can be later be turned into an unsecured card. In addition to myself, I also need to drive my two younger brothers to see my parents as well. Neither of them drives. I really appreciate any advice. Thanks alot.
