Post subject: The Top 2 Ways To Avoid A Rate Increase From Chase

The most important thing other than not having any negative info on your report is to NOT use more than half of your credit limit on any card. The lower the usage the better. They will frown against that. Also Chase will not suddenly raise your rate without a 15 day notice. It is against the law, believe it or not. If you have 10 cards with low balances, that will not make chase raise your rate. I have been dealing with chase since 1994 on and off with different cards. I presently have the world mc with flexible rewards at 29,600 zero percent until May 1 2008, then 8.9 fixed thereafter. I am constantly receiving PHONE CALLS letting me know I have been approved for this card, and that card. I say no, due to self control. 29k with them is enough for now.

If the Chase cardholder is chicken enough, nancy enough and a bedwetter enough, then, sure, he will care about what fecking Chase will and won’t do to his rate. If one chooses to hem oneself into a tedious, ulcer-inducive box so Chase can be happy, he deserves that ulcer.

The fact of the matter is Chase and others may jack the cardholder’s rate if he farts in the wrong direction, and they may NOT jack his rates if he trashes his credit profile, ain’t no seta rules etched in stone. And it’ ain’t nothing that can’t be fixed with a phone call or two. Rolling Eyes

FWIW, I have a Chase Sig. V card that I've maintained at 70%+ of it's credit line for almost a year (during my 18-mo 0% intro). No rate boost on that, or my other 2 Chase cards. (Ok, so it's at about 60% now -- they gave me a $5K auto CLI in Jan -- after having had the card just 8 mo.)
