Post subject: Rewards Card Question
I do a lot of travel on the Long Island Rail Road for work but I pay using my personal CC and get reimbursed. Is there a rewards card which gives more than 1% cashback on this type of expense?
If there isn’t any card for that type of purchase, I was thinking of opening 2 credit cards, a Discover gas card to use for gas and auto purchases to get the 5% on that, and the citi drivers edge for my other purchases (6% supermarket and drug store first year then 3% after and 1% on other purchases). I will use the citi card for gas the first year and then switch over to the discover and use the citi card for everything else.
First off, does this sound like a good strategy for me as I don’t have many expenses outside those categories and I am looking for cash back.
Secondly, would there be a problem if I applied for both cards at the same time or should I wait a certain amount of time between applying?

Household Bank is trying to move into more prime ground and they are offering a Household bank card by invitation only 2% cash back on everything. No annual fe. 0% for 12 months.
Don’t confuse it with the Orchard Bank card. There are two offers, I wouldn’t reply to the one with the minimum limit of 300 on the back (my AU got that one), that one may give you a low limit. There is a second one without the minimum limit on the back that I understand gives a min 5k limit.
The one with the lower limit sts its household on the app the other says HSBC. I applied and was approved for 7500 but surpised when I logged in online after receiving my card to see HHB. Even the card doesn’t say Household anywhere on it. Maybe this is their middle ground card. I knwo that this limit isn’t the norm for Household Bank.
My experience with Household hasn’t been the best but I was looking for a CB card and decided to give it a try since I PIF every month. Just using it for my normal monthly bills like the cable, groceries and such.

Good question. I don’t know. What I do know is that Costco will not allow you any transaction if you’re not a member.
