Post subject: Discover Card question
I received a great offer (I feel) on Friday, March 16th, from Discover. The terms are 0% on purchases until Dec., 2007 and balance transfers posted by July 1, 2007 are good until the year 2011!!
I filled out the application online and received a message that they will let me know the outcome of my application in 30 days.
Today, March 19, 2007, I received an e-mail from Discover stating that they needed more information and to call them. I called them and all the lady wanted was my birth date and social security number. She stated for me to hold on while she looked over my application. She came back after two seconds and said "Ok, we are still reviewing your application and you will get an answer in 7-10 days." She asked me "You did say you received a letter?" and I stated, "Yes, I received an e-mail.". She said "Ok, fine.".
LOL, my question is has anyone been through these series of questions after applying for a Discover card and what was the outcome? It seems to me that more information would be what is YOUR net monthly or yearly income as I always use my husband's and my income for household income when asked.
Thanks in advance for answering.

I had responded to one of these offers as well recently. My scores are all in the 725-749 range. I too got an email that said to call them, and when I did, they asked me to verify my name because two names showed on my credit report (I am divorced) and that was it. That's all they wanted to know, and the guy said I'd hear within a week or so, and I did, I got a letter, and I was declined for too many recently opened accounts. All I wanted it for was the 0% balance transfer because my Chase 0% is up next month, and I was going to transfer the balance over. I have a 15K line PIF each month with Amex Blue.
It's their decision.

I hear several comments about Discover from people I know. If one goes to the Creditboards.com and click on the "Credit Pulls Database" under Discover you will find people who have had BK and other problems getting approved for Discover. I think it depends on what kind of day the CR is having or how well-oiled the computer is that day! Kidding aside, it is their decision as to who gets approved or not.
