Post subject: Airline Insurance with Bank of America Card

A guest to our website had the following question for our experts. Answers/Comments are appreciated. Thank You.

“B of A just notified me that their card ( for Working Assets ) will no longer come with airline insurance. This may eliminate my last reason for having a credit card, as my debit card takes care of routine purchases. Are there any cards that still offer this fringe benefit ? Preferably an environmentally responsible card ?”

I use Amex for plane fare and Chase for car rentals (full collision insurance).

And what rewards do you get from using your debit card? Does it offer cash rebates for gas or grocery purchases? Do you receive a percentage rebate on everything you buy? A debit card gives you no benefits, whereas today’s credit card issuers are paying (bribing?) smart consumers to use their cards.

Please explain what “an environmentally responsible card” might be.

Sorry to go off-topic, but my debit card (US Bank) gives me 1% back on purchases.

As for airline/travel insurance, I think this is pretty much a standard benefit of the majority of platinum cards.

I don’t see the rationale of using a debit card for everyday activity, even with the 1% rewards. At least for me. You’re paying everything cash.

It’s your money you’re using and not someone else’s.
