How difficult is it to be approved for Amex Gold and Platinum cards?

well you need to have good credit, no just score but history and they look closely at your installments accounts and some other factors, they may ask you to fax them copy of your bank statements and some other documents, remember this is a charge card not a credit card, you have to pay the whole balance at due date, annual fee is about 250$ a year. i had it for a couple of years and now I have the centurion (black amex) yearly fee is $2500 for main and 1500$ for additional card holders.
