What Kind of Inquiry is Pulled on American Express Authorized Users Credit

Post subject: Authorized users with AMEX.

I was going to add an authorized user to one of my AMEX cards, but their website gave me the impression that a credit report might get pulled on the additional user. I called them and they said that they would have to pull a credit report and it would be a hard inquiry. Has anyone added others to any amex cards? If so, did they pull a hard inquiry on the additional user?

I have been added as an AU on AMEX and have added others and neither resulted in Hard Inquiries. However this was done upon application for the cards. May be different if this is done AFTER one already has the cards.

I think the creditor is mistaken, they should not pull a credit report on an authorized user, just a joint account holder. They may be thinking of adding as joint and not authorized user. I would call them back on that one.
