Post subject: HELP! No Credit...but want credit card

Hello, I am new to this forum. I was recently denied an MBNA credit card because I have 'no credit"...well that's fine, but how am I supposed to obtain credit without being able to use a credit card?!?!? Perplexing...

Anyways, I have plenty of cash on hand to pay off my bills on time every month...no problem there. I just need a credit card from a reputable organization that will easily approve me for like $1K or $2K line of credit. I would appreciate links to good offers that will approve me/people with simply No Credit! Thanks so much

I am in the same situation. I was just approved for capital one platinum $500 limit.

I tried citi and amex and was denied.

Try cap1 its a good starter card with no fees.

If you dont get approved for that then you'll have to get a store or gas card and/or a secured credit card.

best of luck!

Capital One is a great starter card like the previous poster said. They will probably start you off with a secured card and probably an annual fee too. However, pay them faithfully and even call when the annual fee is posted and ask them to waive it for you. Never hurts to ask even if the first credit rep says "No!"....just call and get a different credit rep.

HSBC Bank has been pretty generous with credit lines....even to people who are just starting out. Wouldn't hurt to call their credit card division and ask if you can qualify for a credit card from them. Some have applied online and gotten a $1K credit approval instantly.

Good luck because I know what it is like to start out with no credit and then I know what it is like to have credit and become ill and fall behind and work myself back up to good credit again. It will happen for you too.
