Credit Tips: Should I Close My Credit Card Account?

i have a chevron gas card, CL $400.00, i dont really use the card much anymore. the card has been opened for 18 months. it’s one of my oldest accounts. this card is the one that re-built my credit history. what also rebuilt my credit history is a joint credit card with a $30k line. that has been open now for 1 year. i’ve never been late on any payments. what messed up my credit was i didnt pay some medical/utilities bills. i have one PAID medical collection left, it falls off in october of this year.

anyways, i’ve a total of 8 cards, which 6 were just opened this year starting feb. so what do you guys think? should i close the chevron card? it doesn’t have any anual fee’s or anything.

so what’s the CB’s hype about closing un-used credit card accounts?how often should you use them? twice a year or more?

why would a creditor say ONE HAS TO MUCH AVAIL CREDIT LINE(s)?

i’ve $108,400 in AVAIL CREDIT, AND A HOUSEHOLD INCOME OF $102,000

my total utilization is 2-3%
